F.A.Q. Counting Your Visits

Where can I log my visited sites?

Log in, go to your profile menu, sidebar WHS Traveller, and choose Add a Visit.

How do 'Visits' work?

The intended use of 'Visits' is to cluster sites that you have visited during one trip. For example, 'Kenya 2025':

The 'Add a Visit' screen has two mandatory fields: Visited on and Sites.

Those who want to keep a more detailed track of their trips can also fill in a Visit title and Visit description.

In the field Sites, you can select multiple sites (WHS, TWHS, even FTWHS and revisits) that you visited on this trip. Type at least 4 characters of its name and select (and go on to select the next):

faq15select

To quickly select a site, use the more distinguishable terms within the site name, so for The Palaces of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, don't search for 'Palaces' as there will be many, but choose ludw (for Ludwig) or bava (for Bavaria) instead.

To filter for all inscribed sites in France, for example, type this: inscribed: france

After hitting Save, your total count of WHS and TWHS will be updated. The updated counts will be visible on your public profile page, where the counts are refreshed at least once a day.

In contrast to the previous version, WHS and TWHS are not stored separately anymore. This means that when a TWHS gets promoted to be a WHS and you have visited (and 'ticked') it already, your count will automatically move as well towards the new WHS.

I am a new user and have already visited 100 sites. How do I log my initial list?

Choose Add a Visit. Pick today as the date, and start selecting from Sites. When you type "Inscribed:" you get the whole list passing by alphabetically, including country names. With ctrl+click you can easily select them. End with Save. You can also Save in between and open the list again via Edit to add additional ones that you may have overlooked.

How to remove a visited site

If you have erroneously marked a site as visited, or have become aware later that the boundaries were different from what you thought at the time and you did not visit the core zone of a component, you can remove the 'tick'. Your count will decrease, of course.

Go to Your Visits under WHS Traveller. Search for the sitename on the page with ctrl-f (on a PC) or via the find option in your browser on a phone. Go to edit of the item indicated, remove the linked site and save again.

Where can I see an overview of all the sites I visited?

Go to your Profile Page at Community. Go to the map section, click on View Full-screen map and a list will appear below the map.

Click on Load Missing on the same page to see which WHS you are missing.

Why is my TWHS count lower than before?

This has to do with:

  • The date of the migration (the WHC followed shortly after, which "took away" some of your counted TWHS as they became WHS)
  • a specific migration issue

Read this forum message to how to evaluate your own TWHS count and take action.

Why is my WHS count after WHC 2025 higher than expected?

Your visited TWHS 'ticks' were automatically migrated to the subsequent WHS. If you made a mistake in registering the TWHS visits or you in the end got a 'near miss' from reduction in inscribed components, remove the tick. You can do so via Edit the visit.

Why is my WHS count after WHC 2025 lower than expected?

Your visited TWHS 'ticks' were automatically migrated to the subsequent WHS. However, the 2 extensions (Maputo NP and Hin Nam No) were not automatically added to your WHS total. This poses an issue for those who did not visit the original WHS (iSimangaliso, Phong Nha Ke Bang) but did visit one of the components they were extended with. You have to readjust that manually by ticking the WHS via Your Visits.

Why is my name not in the Community List?

We only show active users at the Community Index. Active means that you have logged in at least once during the past year.

Backlog

  • Requests have come in to bring back the previous countdown-style checklist, also with a more concise list to simplify updating on a phone or poor internet connections. We intend to offer this as an alternative next to the current visit-style checklist.
