I like the concept of World Heritage, and I like to travel, so combining these two is very enjoyable. However, I don't travel outside of Europe that often, so my ultimate goal would be to visit all WH sites in Europe.
My most impressive site: Rome and Grand Canyon
My proposal for a new site: Mount Vesuvius and Phlegreian Fields, Historic University Towns of Oxford and Cambridge, Windsor Castle, Death Valley National Park, Old Town of Hall in Tirol and Schwaz Silver Mines, Historic Centre of Innsbruck and Ambras Castle, Bavarian Royal Castles, Moon Landing Sites: Cape Canaveral/Kennedy Space Center and Houston/Johnson Space Center (Mission Control)

Holy Trinity Column (Inscribed)
Holy Trinity Column
This seems to be the smallest World Heritage Site anywhere, and it takes about 2 minutes to see everything. It is very pretty and big, but the only justification for …

Drottningholm (Inscribed)
Drottningholm
I have been to Drottningholm twice now, and I can't really say I enjoyed this place. The first time I did a bus tour of Stockholm that included a brief …

Visby (Inscribed)
Visby
A few years ago I did a short cruise of the Baltic Sea, and I chose a particular cruise because it included Visby. I did spend a few hours walking …

Plitvice Lakes (Inscribed)
Plitvice Lakes
These lakes in central Croatia are justly famous for their natural beauty and wildlife. A classic karst landscape, the lakes are separated by dams and waterfalls. You can walk among …

Regensburg (Inscribed)
Regensburg
I agree with the other reviewers here - Regensburg is really a beautiful town with a fascinating history. The old town is very compact and wonderfully preserved, luckily having escaped …

Auschwitz Birkenau (Inscribed)
Auschwitz Birkenau
It's hard to add anything meaningful to the other posts. This is really an incredible place, and even if you have been to other concentration camps before (like Mauthausen), Auschwitz …

Kraków (Inscribed)
Kraków
Cracow is a wonderful, well-preserved city and one of the jewels of Central Europe, definitely on a par with Prague. Although I only had a half day to explore the …

Wieliczka and Bochnia Royal Salt Mines
As most of the other reviewers, I enjoyed my tour through the Wieliczka mine. Sure, some parts are very kitschy, but the guided tour gives you a very interesting overview …

Aquileia (Inscribed)
Aquileia
It's hard to believe that this is the first review for Aquileia. There were many other visitors when I was there, and the site is very close to Venice and …

Kinderdijk (Inscribed)
Kinderdijk
On a typically Dutch June day (cool and rainy) I did a pleasant boat trip out of Rotterdam to the mills at Kinderdijk. This is really a classic Dutch landscape …

Euphrasian Basilica in Porec (Inscribed)
Euphrasian Basilica in Porec
Porec is beautiful small town on the west coast of Istria and today overrun with tourists for six months of the year. It does have an interesting history, though, and …

Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape
The cultural landscape around the southern Moravian castles of Lednice (Eisgrub) and Valtice (Feldsberg) is one of Europe's largest, the product of centuries of care by the Liechtenstein family. Both …

Amiens Cathedral (Inscribed)
Amiens Cathedral
Like some other reviewers here, I´ve seen my share of big cathedrals, and sometimes they seem to blur in memory. What´s unique about the one in Amiens ? Not that …

Epidaurus
Undeservedly little known to many people, the site of Epidaurus is really one of the nicest and most interesting places to visit in Greece. The amphitheatre boasts great acoustics and …

Assisi is a pretty touristy place, but justifiably so. The location on a hill is just amazing (especially coming from the west, i.e. Perugia), and the town itself is beautiful …
