Sites where Dinosaur remains (bones, footprints or eggs) have been found. Dinosaurs were a group of reptiles which existed c250 to c65 million years ago during the Mesozoic era (Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods). During this period they themselves evolved and the remains of over 900 species have been discovered on every current continent. These divide into 2 groups ; Saurischian (Lizard like) and Ornithischian (Bird like). The group was given the name "Dinosauria" ( = "Terrible Lizard") by Richard Owen in 1842.
