Barbados
Barbados accepted the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on 9 April 2002, and currently has one cultural site inscribed. The Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison exemplifies British colonial urbanism and fortified military architecture. Common themes in its nomination include European colonial town planning, maritime defense infrastructure, and the social and economic impacts of Atlantic trade—particularly sugar and enslaved labor.
