Le palais des gouverneurs (also called palais de Lomé) was built by the German colonialist as a symbol of the power and prosperity of the colony, visible from far from the sea. It was the siege of the French colony the from the independent country. It mixes imported and local building material. It is nowadays a museum surrounded by botanical gardens.
