WHS Score 0.76 Votes 1 Average 1.0
Succulent Karoo Protected Areas (08/07/2009) is a serial trans-national nomination of several parks protecting the Succulent Karoo biome, which is a biodiversity hotspot of southern Africa. It includes the richest succulent flora on earth. It is an semi-desert region with mild moderate climate due to the cold Atlantic Ocean currents and with winter rainfalls. It contains an exceptionally diverse pattern of endemic plants, reptiles, and invertebrates. “Richtersveld Cultural and Botanical Landscape” is one of the park considered for this project, even if already inscribed.
