Cuenca del Cotahuasi
Sub Cuenca del Cotahuasi is one of the deepest canyons on the planet, with a great diversity of geomorphological units. A wide variety of geological processes can be observed here, including glacial, volcanic and gravitational processes, as well as fossil deposits. The large altitudinal gradient has favoured the appearance of a large number of terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems, from coastal deserts to high-altitude rainforests, as well as the appearance of biodiversity linked to these ecosystems.
