Keibul Lamjao Conservation Area
Keibul Lamjao comprises the core of the eponymous national park, plus Loktak Lake and Pumlen Pat. The area is inhabited by the Meitei, a dominant ethnic group of Manipur, and holds their sacred places. Loktak is a large freshwater lake with floating swampy islands (Phumdi). The park was created as a wildlife sanctuary to preserve the natural habitat of the endangered Eld's deer.
