Khanbandi (dam)

WHS Score 0.0 Votes 0
Khanbandi dam (Xonbandi To’go’oni in Uzbek) is the oldest surviving extant dam, some 50 meter long, built of crushed granite slabbed with water-resistant solution. It was built sometimes between the 10 and the 13th century. It forms a reservoir 1.5 km long when flooded. It testifies to the fact that engineers then were able to take into accounts the Pascal’s law of pressure of liquids, some centuries before the law was officially formulated by Pascal.
