This is a typical example of a more natural site candidate for cultural values; also the latter are really not self evident. So don't expect to find there some monuments, but just a nice even not so rare natural landscape protected as natural park, that is also cultural only because its natural resources were exploited by men, and don't go there unless you have time to have a walk in the middle of the peat bogs. And don't expect that the site will get inscribed in the future because it is really similar to many other mountain landscapes, even those in the Alps.
We decided to go there from Spa but unfortunately we had only an hour or so; after we entered the park on the road N672 for several km nothing was visible apart from woods, just like anywhere in Europe. Then we turned on the road N68 and the landscape from strongly steep became suddenly almost completely flat when we reached the top of the chain of the highest hills. From the road there is nothing else to see than just a landscape of tall grass and various types of trees. Before we left very disappointed, we only reached the top of the Baraque Michel hill. There is nothing particular, only a widening of the road and a bar, but it is the second highest "mount" in Belgium and the central point of the Hautes Fagnes.
