Le rivage méditerranéen des Pyrénées is a cultural landscape at the south-eastern ridge of the Pyrenees where it meets the Mediterranean Sea. The coastal area has been settled in the past 2000 years by Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths and Franks, among others. There are dolmens and menhirs, remains of Roman and Greek settlements, medieval monasteries and villages, fortifications from all periods, vernacular farm buildings and historic irrigation.
