Les Gravures Rupestres de Bidzar
The Bidzar petroglyphs are about 500 rock engravings on marble outcrops in the vicinity of the town of Bidzar. The carvings are mostly geometrical, consisting of circles or groups of circles, and may be schematic representations in some cases. The figures were made using a hammer and an engraving tool. It is believed these engravings had a - now forgotten - meaning, which is supported by the recurrence of certain figures, groups of figures or themes. It has been speculated that the petroglyphs are linked to myths or to cosmogeny. The dating of the engravings is unsure and could range from between 300 to 3000 years.
