Mountain Railways of India (Extension)
This extension includes the Matheran Light Railway and the Kangra Valley Railway. The narrow-gauge Matheran Light Railway (1907) runs for almost 20km on a mountain table top in Maharashtra. Materan, near Mumbai, used to be a cool summer resort for the Raj. The 164km long Kangra Valley Railway (1928) runs in difficult mountainous terrain in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Both train networks are still in use.
