Parc national des Écrins
The Parc national des Écrins located in the Dauphiné Alps is one of the highest massifs in the Western Alps and includes the second largest glacial area in France. The diversity of ecological conditions in the national park gives rise to a diversity of habitats. There are about 350 species of vertebrates, including Alpine ibex and Golden Eagle, and an unknown number of invertebrates. The Écrins massif also contains cultural heritage: bocage landscapes, a network of hedges and plots, and seasonal pastures and meadows.
