Shimal is an archaeological landscape that comprises a prehistoric cemetery of megalithic tombs from the Late Bronze Age and the Iron Age. They have a distinctive design, with corbelled roofing using layers of stone slabs. There is also a medieval palace (‘Queen of Sheba’s Palace’), built for the ruler of the medieval trading town of Julfar.
