Tashkent Modernist Architecture
Tashkent Modernist Architecture. Modernity and tradition in Central Asia comprises 16 monuments showing a twentieth-century capital's postwar architecture. It was both stimulated by Soviet modernization in the 1960s and by the process of indigenization.
Note about the locations: although the tentative site description lists 16 locations, reliable information leading up to the 2026 nomination suggests that only 10 will be put forward. These are: Zhemchug Residential Building, Big Solar Furnace, State Museum of History, Peoples’ Friendship Palace, State Museum of Arts, State Circus, Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts, Alisher Navoi Cinema Palace, Chorsu Market, and Kosmonavtlar Metro Station.
