The Mongolian section of the Great Tea Route formed part of a camel caravan trade network with China and Russia. It flourished from the 17th century until the early 20th century and caused the development of new infrastructure, trade settlements and sacred places. It also led to the emergence of a distinctive Mongolian tea culture.
