Vatthe Conservation Area
Vatthe Conservation Area on the northern coast of Espiritu Santo is one of the largest conservation areas in Vanuatu, and supports an ecosystem with a rich variety of plant and bird life. The forests in Vatthe include over 265 species of trees, shrubs, palms, and vines used by local communities for food, ceremonies, building materials, and medicine. The area also supports over 75% of the land and freshwater birds found in Vanuatu, including six endemic species, as well as bats, reptiles, and an endemic flying fox.
