Since 1997, I have traveled extensively with a focus on World Heritage Sites (WHS) while working in ICT management. I quit in 2022, and since then, I have been dedicating all my time to WHS (including running this website) and WH travel.

Plans for 2025

Scotland in August

Big Trip to #1,000 (November/December)

My most impressive site: Kathmandu Valley (Nepal)

My proposal for a new site: Janaki Mandir, Janakpur (Nepal), Puthia (Bangladesh)

Syracuse (Inscribed)

Syracuse

Siracusa owns an old Mediterranean heart in Ortygia, a harbour Venetian or Cretan in its looks. Crumbling buildings, a street market, colourful balconies, drying laundry from the windows: a true …

New Lanark

On this Sunday morning, I took a train from Glasgow to Lanark, a direct connection taking 55 minutes. At the rather desolate Lanark station, there was a bus waiting that …

Over 1000 years of history is cumulated in this WHS, part industrial heritage, part medieval town. The numerous monuments are within walking distance from each other and make a good …

The inscription of Vigan as a WHS was rejected earlier, in 1989, because it couldn't compare with Spanish colonial cities like Cartagena (Colombia) and Trinidad (Cuba). I haven't been to …

After arriving from Hong Kong by ferry I thought I'd come to construction workers' heaven. Probably there still aren't enough luxury hotels and casinos in Macao. To avoid this overwhelming …
